    • I Leah Lamme do make and publish this codicil to my last will and testament: I give and bequeath to Ananda McCloud for waiting on me so kindly in sickness, a cow and calf. I give and bequeath to my niece Louie Wells in addition to what is named in my will above, the 5yr old bay mar on the place, know as hers, also the cow known as her cow, and one yearling steer, and one year lingheifer, and six hogs and four sheep, all known as her stock. I will and devise and herby direct the amount named in my will as a legacy to My nephew Preston J. Lindsey, be changed from $2000 to $ 1000. as this I think will amply pay him for all he has ever done for me. The $1000 left the amount between the legacy to Preston J. Lindsey in the will and Testament, and the codicil I design to be divided equally between my brothers now living, James and Tom.

      I did find recorded in film # 7035874 Estates index 1786-2001 a notes about Leah Lamme. Item number 4165 list Leah Lamme, Orders X, Will 335, exec 336, ? 349, sale bill 132, ? 353.

      There was also a entry for James Lamme item number 1603 but it was dark and I could not read it.

      This needs to be checked out and find the other documents.

    • You are absolutely correct. The Rev. Richard Owings is my gggggreat-grandfather. James did marry his daughter Catherine and his son George married Ann Wells as well on March 26th, 1781. I think you can conclude that if Alexander had a daughter named Ann, then James would be a brother or first cousin - somewhere close.

      Leah Lamme, farmer; PO. North Middletown; Mrs. Lamme is a daughter of James Wells, a native of Maryland who emigrated to Kentucky at a very early day and married Katie Owens, a Virginian bybirth, and whose father first settled and named the town of Owingsville, in Bath County, Kentucky. Mr. Wells died at the age of 82 years, and his wife at the age of 89 . Mrs. Wells was themother of twelve children, five of whom are now living. Leah, the oldest daughter now a live, and who is the subject of this sketch, was born on the 10th of December, 1797, and was married in1833 to James Lamme, who was killed with a knife on the 7th of July, 1839, by Peter Hedges. Mr. Lamme left a farm of 298 acres, where his widow still lives. She is now 84 years old, and is amember of the Dunkard Church .

      LEAH LAMME, farmer; P. O. North Middletown; Mrs. Lamme is a daughter of
      James Wells, a native of Maryland who emigrated to Kentucky at a very

      I Leah Lamme of the County of Bourbon, State of Kentucky, being of sound mind, and realizing the uncertainty of life, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all former wills I have made. Last will and testament of Leah Lamme: I Leah Lamme of the county of Bourbon, state of Kentucky, being of sound mind, and realizing the uncertainity of life, do make this my last will and testament, herby revokeing any and all former wills I may have made. I desire my Executor to sell my farm on which I reside situated in the County of Bourbon, on the waters of Pretty Run Creek, containing about two hundred and seventy five acres of land, more or less (reserving the grave yard); also all of my personalty except such as is her-in after named. I desire my executor out of the funds of my estate to pay my just debts and burial expenses and have a plain stone erected over my grave. And all the rest of my estate of what ever kind or nature I bequeath to my dear and beloved kinsfolk in the order as hereinafter named. I give and devise to Kate Hutchcraft and her sister Nannie Justen, daughters of my brother Joshua Wells, deceased, each five hundred dollars ($500) I give and devise to Joshua Caldwell, son of my sister, Polly, deceased , Five Hundred dollars ($500) I give and devise to Preston J.Lindsey son of sister Nancy, Deceased, Two Thousand Dollars ($2000). also one of the silver cups in the house and the bed known in the household as his bed. I give and devise to Louie,daughter of my brother James Wells, Three Hundred Dollars ($300). Also one of the silver cups in the house, and my watch chain. I give and devise to the heirs of my sister Rachell, deceased Two Hundred Dollars. ($200) I give and devise to my four brothers Tom Wells, Richard Wells, John Wells, and James Wells, all the rest of my estate of whatever nature or kind, after paying the above named legacies, to be divided as follows: Richard Wells and John Wells to have equal amount, and James Wells to have three hundred dollars less than Richard Wells or John Wells and Tom Wells to have one Hundred dollars more than Richard Wells or John Wells. I make this difference between my brothers because James has already received about the amount named more than either Richard or John, and Thomas has received less than any of them, feeling in doing this I am doing justice to my four living brothers.

      I do herby constitute and appoint H. C. Smith Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand, this 15 th day of April, 1886. Leah x Lammie.
